Media reflecting Diversity
            I would say that comics and media have definitely started to reflect diverse audiences.  There are more characters being played by with diverse backgrounds.  For instance, there a homosexual in X-Men who gets married.  Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are lesbian lovers.  The media is making a Black Panther movie this year which I think is a good step in the Superhero/ comic book world.  Nick Fury was white in the comics but in the Avengers he is played by Samuel L. Jackson.  I would say homosexuality has come a long way in the comics/ media and society.  It is far more accepted and featured in tv shows and movies. 

            I feel like this change is going to last.  It has definitely been a slow process but I think that is the reason it is going to stay.  When an idea is forced on someone it usually isn’t perceived well but when someone is slowly expose to it, it becomes much easier for them to accept/ digest.  I’m not saying that it is good that people are slow to accept but I just feel like that is how most people are.  That is why I believe this change is going to last.  Especially when it comes to the acceptance of same sex relationships.  Now that same sex marriages are legal, I feel like that was a big step taken in showing acceptance towards homosexuality.  Even when it comes to trans genders I feel like that is the case.  I wouldn’t say they are at the same level but society is taking steps in that direction of acceptance.  On our campus there are trans genders signs instead of just having a male/female sign which I think is an obvious sign of acceptance.

Freedom vs. Safety I honestly don’t really know what to think about Snowden’s defiance.   For the fact that I see both sides of the argument.   For instance, I believe that it is wrong to hack our government and release government secrets, or what could possibly be dangerous to our national security.   So for that reason I do not agree with Snowden’s defiance and am against him doing that.             On the other hand what we have found out from that is concerning too.   The fact that the government can track our phone calls and duration kind of concerned me.   After finding out that the NSA goes further than that and goes through our personal emails and phones is scary.   I don’t like that they have the power to do that.   What also makes me mad is that they are going through all our private stuff but how many terrorist acts/ attacks have been stopped by all this? 1, and it was a cab driver giving $8,500 dollars to Al-Qaida.   Seriously….   Obviously the government doesn’t

Selflessness Waid discussed how Superman is often thought of as a selfless person.   He’s always looking out for the greater good and tries to do the right thing.   But a question was asked that made him think a lot deeper about Superman.   He was asked “Why does Superman do what he does?”   After much thought he realized or believes that superman does it because he is selfless because of his moral type upbringing but it’s also because of his own self-interest.   He does helps others because it helps him to be truly who he is by using his strength and powers.             This often is the case in people’s lives today, you may not realize it right away but I believe that it is true.   I see this in my own life when it comes to volunteer work, especially if it’s for a special cause.   When it comes to volunteer work for the church, part of the reason I do it is because I genuinely want to help but it can also be a little bit because of my self-interest.   The self interest in t
