Days of Future’s Past

            The Sentinels are trying to eliminate all the mutants in the world.  The Sentinels were successful in eradicating nearly all the superheroes/ mutants or at least in capturing them.  Similarly, these are the steps that society is taking in today’s times.  Instead of accepting disabilities or genetic defects, science has learned how to manipulate our genetics.  They have learned how to detect whether a baby will be born with Down syndrome or not and will allow the parents to abort the baby.  This is very similar to how the Sentinel takeover labeled the different types of humans.  They were either “H” for normal human that’s allowed to breed, “A” for a normal human that has potential mutant abilities (not able to breed), and M for a mutant.

            In today’s world in addition to being able to detect defects in the early on stages of birth, we’ve now been able to manipulate the genes in order to get certain characteristics.  These are called “designer babies” because for example if the couple wants their baby to have blue eyes they can manipulate the genes in order to make the baby have blue eyes.  The same can be true with facial features or hair color.  I wouldn’t say it would be too farfetched to say that someday we many have super humans or freak athletes created by the manipulation of genes.

Freedom vs. Safety I honestly don’t really know what to think about Snowden’s defiance.   For the fact that I see both sides of the argument.   For instance, I believe that it is wrong to hack our government and release government secrets, or what could possibly be dangerous to our national security.   So for that reason I do not agree with Snowden’s defiance and am against him doing that.             On the other hand what we have found out from that is concerning too.   The fact that the government can track our phone calls and duration kind of concerned me.   After finding out that the NSA goes further than that and goes through our personal emails and phones is scary.   I don’t like that they have the power to do that.   What also makes me mad is that they are going through all our private stuff but how many terrorist acts/ attacks have been stopped by all this? 1, and it was a cab driver giving $8,500 dollars to Al-Qaida.   Seriously….   Obviously the government doesn’t

Selflessness Waid discussed how Superman is often thought of as a selfless person.   He’s always looking out for the greater good and tries to do the right thing.   But a question was asked that made him think a lot deeper about Superman.   He was asked “Why does Superman do what he does?”   After much thought he realized or believes that superman does it because he is selfless because of his moral type upbringing but it’s also because of his own self-interest.   He does helps others because it helps him to be truly who he is by using his strength and powers.             This often is the case in people’s lives today, you may not realize it right away but I believe that it is true.   I see this in my own life when it comes to volunteer work, especially if it’s for a special cause.   When it comes to volunteer work for the church, part of the reason I do it is because I genuinely want to help but it can also be a little bit because of my self-interest.   The self interest in t
