The
Watchmen is Prophetic
The Watchmen I think was prophetic
to what is happening in real life. It’s
a warning to what could be happening in society and us not even realizing
it. Or it could be coming further down
the road. For instance, in the comic the
heroes were fighting crime just to have more crime show up the next day. It was a never ending cycle that they could
never get ahead of and defeat. Also
there was the bigger issue of world war which they were helpless to try and
defend except for Mr. Manhattan. This is
sort of the case with our country currently.
There is so much crime going on that we cannot catch up and keep crime
at a minimum. While this is going on our
national security is being threatened by more and more countries gaining
nuclear capacity. The most dangerous
country of all being North Korea.
In the Watchmen, Veidt decides to
protect the greater good of Earth by uniting them against a common opponent. He decides to do this buy teleporting a giant
alien looking creature to Earth that causes an explosion on arrival that kills
the whole city of New York. He decides
that the death of a few million is better than the whole world dying because of
nuclear war. This could be prophetic in
terms of the real world. Not in terms of
someone and whether they will have to teleport an alien to New York City to
cause world peace. But we may have to
find a way to unite the world together in order to have peace and so the world won’t
end by a nuclear war.
